Marriage License Info

All applications should be submitted to the Virgin Islands Superior Court, Family Division. Located in the R.H. Amphlett Leader Justice Complex, 1^st. Floor, Room 104, RR1 9000, Kings Hill, VI 00850

Have your taxi driver take you to the Territorial Court, in Kingshill, on Centerline Road.

• Monday – Friday: 8 am – 5 pm, excluding holidays (please note that the cashier is only open 8:15 am – 3:00 pm).

• Saturday: For a fee of $150 you can pre-arrange for the court to be open (excludes Carnival Saturday).

• Sunday and Holidays: For a fee of $150 you can pre-arrange for the court to be open from 9:30 -10:30 am.

  • Christmas Day

The Virgin Islands Superior Court recommend sending your applications at least one month prior to your wedding date if you live outside of the territory and two weeks in advance if you reside in the territory.

Submittals:

• Application for Marriage License (must be typed)

• License and Certificate of Marriage (must be typed)

• $100 application fee, non-refundable

• • By mail: certified check or money order

  • In person: cash, certified check, or money order

• A typed cover letter indicating:

  •  Date of arrival on St. Croix

  • Length of your stay

  • Date of ceremony

• If either applicant is divorced, include a certified copy of all applicable divorce decrees.

• If either applicant is widowed, include a certified copy of all applicable death certificates.

Marriage applications are posted for public examination/viewing in the clerks office for a period of eight days in accordance with 16 V.I. Code Ann subsection 37.

Before the issuance of any license to formalize the marriage the applicants are required to personally appear before the Clerk of the Court, or her designee, to be examined under oath as to the information provided in the application for marriage license. Please note that some form of identification is required.
